Going Before—and Staying Behind

We’ve mentioned the benefit of missionary organizations cooperating with each other, and the possibility of great outcomes from utilizing a “going before” principle used by our Lord.

But recordings also play a great role in “following after.” That is, often a missionary, pastor, or evangelist cannot stay forever in a group of unreached people. Sometimes their stay is very short.

What If You Could Leave the Gospel Behind?
What if you could leave behind evangelistic tools that were culturally appropriate and in the heart language spoken by that group?

How Recordings Help in Real Ministry Contexts

• Street preachers can share the Good News verbally… until they run into someone whose language they do not speak. Imagine being able to put into those people’s hands messages that they can understand, can listen to over and over, and that can change their lives forever!

• Short term missionaries can leave behind Gospel messages and other tools by sharing the 5fish app with those they meet. The advantage to them is they do not have to understand the language they are sharing! English versions of the well-tested scripts are available for those interested.

• Long term missionaries sometimes are forced to leave their people before they planned, due to circumstances or health or many other reasons. How comforting to be able to point those people to trustworthy materials they can listen to over and over, even after you are gone!

• Even tourists have a tool on their phone that can make a difference in people’s lives. For all these groups, getting them connected, or remaining connected, to a church group is the ideal.

But that is not always possible. Our materials also can be a bridge of simple teaching until there are mature Christians, elders, and pastors to take over the continued teaching of the flock.

You will find, as so many have, that audio messages in the heart language are a wonderful thing to leave behind in any place you minister. Whatever you have been able to do during your time with another people group, imagine leaving a legacy to “follow after” your time with them!
