GRN Thailand

UNLESS SPECIFIED IN THE COMMENTS, YOUR GIFTS WILL GO TO ONE OF THESE IMPORTANT PROJECTS, AS MOST NEEDED.

NYEU:  Recording, Distribution and Followup.

There are 11,000 speakers of the Nyeu language located in the Southeastern part of Isaan, but there are only a few Nyeu Christians and because there has not been much follow-up or any resources to help them, most of the Christians have drifted away. After researching the Nyeu language, GRNT decided to record the new Thai Good News Script (Pictures 1-22). Our language helper, Paw, translated the script into her language and the translation was checked through back-translation into Thai. Recently, GRNT completed this recording. Now that the recording has been edited and processed, distribution and follow-up of those receiving the recording is needed. Lord willing, in the future after further evaluation of the current recording, GRNT has plans to prepare and record the rest of the Thai Good News script (Pictures 23-40). This will be followed by more distribution and follow-up.

URAK LAWOI:  Distribution and Followup of believers on different islands.

We need funds for continued distribution of MP3 players and follow-up of those who have heard the Good News. When our GRNT team visits, this provides an opportunity for the Urak Lawoi pastor to visit churches on other islands and is a mutual encouragement both for him and those leaders serving on other islands.

NYAW:  Further research, recording, distribution and follow-up.

“There are only a few Nyaw Christians. We would like to do additional research, recording, distribution and follow-up in the Nyaw language. An initial brief recording was made, but so far most of the Nyaw people have remained closed to the Gospel. The handful of believers need encouragement and help in reaching their group with the Gospel. Pray for wisdom and strong relationships that lead to the development of a script or scripts that would speak to the hearts of the Nyaw. We are planning on doing deeper research in order to find appropriate Bible stories that have redemptive themes that resonate with the people. Pray for God to provide language helpers that have a good testimony in their community, who can speak the language fluently and effectively.

Funds currently needed: US $2550

MGT:  Distribution of past recordings, outreach to both Christians and non-Christians.

The MGT project needs funds so that teams can continue to go on outreaches to various villages. These outreaches open doors for the Gospel to spread further in smaller communities through the MP3 players and sharing Christ’s love through meeting practical needs of the local people. We spend time with pastors and other Christian leaders. Through sharing each other’s stories, worshipping and praying together we provide encouragement to those who
are often isolated and serving the Lord in difficult circumstances.

Maehongson Province of Western Thailand:Further research, recording, distribution and follow-up.

In the Shan State of Myanmar and also in Maehongson Province of Western Thailand, there are several somewhat related language groups where limited recordings have been made in the past (the oldest produced in 1957): Kayah, Western (also called Red Karen), Kayan (also called Long-Necked Karen), and Kayaw (a smaller group). We would like to do language research to evaluate which of the recordings are still useful and which may need to be replaced. Also, we would like to determine which of the dialects need additional material. We also need to do cul- tural research to determine what materials would be the most appropriate to meet the current needs of these populations. Pray for suitable partners who can advise us in doing the language and cultural research to determine what materials would be helpful in which languages and dialects and perhaps suggest possible language helpers
who can help us with translation, recording and distribution.
