Nepal FLOOD Response

Our GRN Nepal team is working alongside local pastors and churches to care for affected families and provide practical support. Please join us in praying for these communities and giving to help meet their urgent needs.

What Happened

On August 26, catastrophic flooding and landslides swept through mountain communities in northern Nepal. Lives have been lost, people remain missing, and homes, roads, and churches have been damaged or destroyed. While the immediate response continues, families and communities will need care and support for a long time.

Our hearts are with our brothers and sisters in Nepal. Our GRN Nepal team is working alongside local pastors and churches to care for affected families, respond to practical needs, and share the hope of Christ amid tremendous loss.

Please join us in praying for those who remain missing, for families who are grieving, for pastors carrying the burdens of their communities, and for churches facing a long road toward recovery. Gifts designated for Nepal Flood Relief will help provide practical support to affected families and churches.

Report from Our Nepal Team:

  • 618 families have lost their homes
  • 318 temporary holding center housing units are required to accommodate displaced families for up to two years
  • Among approximately 300 families, only about 5% of their homes or belongings remain
  • Accurate information is unavailable for some households because entire families remain out of contact

Immediate Needs:

  • Essential food items: lentils, rice, sugar, and salt
  • Cooking supplies: gas stoves, induction cooktops, and kitchen sets
  • Safe drinking water
  • Medicine and healthcare services
  • Clothing
  • Counseling and psychosocial support
  • Temporary clinics and essential facilities

Special Consideration:

Betrawati Bazaar is a historic, approximately 500-year old settlement where residents previously enjoyed a reasonable standard of living. Many families have now lost everything. Therefore, providing only very basic tin-sheet shelters may not be adequate or appropriate. Temporary housing should be safe, dignified, weather-resistant, and suitable for longer-term occupancy.

How you can pray:

For Those Still Missing
Several people across these communities remain unaccounted for. Pray that they will be found safely and that God will comfort and sustain their families as they wait for news.

For Grieving Families
Many families and church communities are mourning those who died in the flooding. Pray that they will experience the Lord’s presence and find strength in the hope of the resurrection.

For Pastors and Local Leaders
Pastors and ministry leaders are caring for their congregations while carrying grief and loss of their own. Pray for wisdom, strength, endurance, and opportunities for rest.

For Damaged Churches
A number of church buildings have been damaged or destroyed. Pray for the resources needed to repair and rebuild, and that these congregations will remain steadfast and united during the recovery.

Help Meet Urgent Needs
Our brothers and sisters in Nepal have asked us to stand with them through prayer and practical support. Every gift will go directly toward helping affected families and churches as they recover and rebuild.
